He has an excellent background in analytical chemistry with the main methods he has used are HPLC, LC-MS and GC-MS. During his PhD he developed many chromatography methods which he used in order to detect and characterise a range of different organic compounds. While he has experience with many techniques the main technique used during his PhD was GC-MS. 
Whilst completing his PhD he had a role at the university as an Academic where he was responsible for teaching undergraduates, this including setting appropriate work tasks, adapting his teaching style to suit different learning methods and developing his own teaching materials.
