Synthesis and Analytical Scientist able to relocate UK wide

Recently completed PhD in synthesis of complex aromatic organic materials (polymer and small molecule) for optoelectronic applications including solar cells, OLEDs and sensors.
Reaction conditions utilised include Buchwald Hartwig amination, bromination, Williamson ether synthesis, methacrylation, Vilsmeier Haak, Suzuki, condensation, reduction, nitration, lithium halogen exchange, acylationand radical polymerisation.
Successfully utilised various equipment: Dean Stark apparatus, filtration, rotary evaporation, recrystallization, column chromatography to work up and purify. Successful synthesis confirmation obtained using NMR, mass spectroscopy, IR and GPC.
Evaluation of effectiveness of material for desired application obtained by using UV/Visible spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. Performed Density Functional Theory calculations to identify synthesised molecules energy, geometry and frequency.
Industrial experience on placement, where has performed sample extractions before analytical techniques such as HPLC, LSC, 2D TLC and Oxidiser working for global life sciences organisation.
